The Innovation pH Balance – The Six Traits of Innovation.

From the book: My Experiments with Innovation

Most of us have heard of pH balance in chemistry or biology—it’s the measure of acidity or alkalinity. But what if I told you that innovation has its own pH balance? One that determines whether your ideas thrive or fizzle out?

In my book My Experiments with Innovation, I introduce the concept of the Innovation pH Balance, driven by a simple equation:

P³ + H³ = I

Where:

  • Passion, Process, Patience (P³) are the visible acidic elements you can easily notice in a person.
  • Hunger, Humbleness, Honesty (H³) are the invisible alkaline elements that quietly drive transformation.
  • Together, they form the Innovation pH Balance that sustains creativity and impact.

🔥 The Acidic Elements (Visible Qualities)

1. Passion
Curiosity, courage, and commitment. Passionate people refuse to take “no” for an answer. They push boundaries and inspire teams with their energy and expressiveness.

2. Process
Structure and discipline. Process-driven people keep details, timelines, and systems in order. When combined with passion, they become unstoppable problem-solvers.

3. Patience
The hidden strength of innovators and salespeople alike. Patience ensures long-term success—nurturing leads, waiting for ideas to mature, and controlling impulses.

🌱 The Alkaline Elements (Invisible Qualities)

4. Hunger
The drive to do more, achieve more, and never settle. By itself, hunger can mislead—but when combined with passion and purpose, it fuels extraordinary progress.

5. Humbleness
The secret to great leadership. Humble innovators share credit, highlight others, and build stronger teams. Humility turns projects into collective memories.

6. Honesty
Integrity with yourself and others. Honesty keeps innovation grounded in reality, helping leaders know when to persist and when to pivot.

⚖️ Why Balance Matters

Just like pH in chemistry, imbalance can cause problems. Too much hunger without humility may lead to shortcuts. Too much patience without honesty can waste time on unworthy ideas. Lacking patience while striving for complete honesty can often lead to frustration.

Innovation thrives when all six elements—Passion, Process, Patience, Hunger, Humbleness, and Honesty—work together in balance.

That’s when Imagination transforms into Impact.
